Fuse vs. Breaker
While fuses and circuit breakers serve the same function- to protect your home’s electrical system from overloading and causing a fire, the difference is in how they work.
Fuses have a filament inside them that will melt if the circuit overheats. When that happens, the electric current can no longer travel to that circuit until you replace the fuse.
Circuit breakers are electromagnetic on/off switches that control the current to each circuit. When a circuit overloads or draws too much power, the switch receives the surge first and trips or flips off. Usually, you can simply unplug the device or appliance that overloaded the circuit and flip the power back at the tripped breaker.
While fuses work well for a time, circuit breakers can handle higher electrical loads more safely, and they’re more convenient. That’s why most homes today use circuit breakers.

- When you insert a plug into an outlet it feels loose or falls out
